Three is the new Two

On 10/10/11, our little guy turned the big THREE. For some reason I feel like right when he hit three, he made one giant leap out of toddlerhood. He suddenly seems taller and his talking more refined. He apologizes without being prompted, he very actively participates in nursery lessons and singing and I often find him patiently reading stories to his little "Harp." I have been warned by many mothers that three is the hardest age (someone please assure me that this is not the case), so we are awaiting the surprises we will encounter this year. But if two has taught me anything it is that with added tantrums and stubbornness also comes the magic of learning, discovering and independence. The magic of expression in word, action and art. We are excited to see our Luke continue to grow and to hear his ideas and to see him play and discover the world around him.

On his birthday he brought cupcakes to preschool, then we did a little family party that night. With french fries for dinner, singing with a cupcake and three presents for our three-year-old, we had a grand old time celebrating our little guy. He is excited for his "flashlight" birthday party with his friends, but we are waiting on a package of camping-themed goodies and crafts to arrive in the mail.

Do you remember when we also got pics in Billabong shirts :).
I would definitely say that Ellis was more difficult at 3 than she is at 4. However, Rosalyn seems to be quite difficult sometimes at 18 months, so I wonder how it can get worse.
I just think that as children learn and grow, so does the spectrum of joy and misery -- at BOTH ends. It's all worth it! :)

I like your line, "We're waiting for a...package to come in the mail". Is that a public reminder for Grandma? He sure is getting big and even more handsome.
