On April 16th we participated in the over-night Relay for Life Race for the Cure. We had the best, and probably the most fit team (no thanks to us). Rob and I did about 8 miles, 32 laps, but my mom (team leader) and many of her super-fit friends, walked a marathon, which was 105 laps around the track.
Around the track were luminaries dedicated to victims and survivors of cancer. Across the stands the word HOPE lit up the night. For the luminary walk, all of the stadium lights were turned off. During a very touching program, HOPE was changed to CURE across the stands.
We had a great time enjoying the loud music, creative decorations/costumes and the overall feeling of hope. My mom was the best team captain who headed up our fundraising and track racing.
