Grandma was sad that she was going to miss Harper's first birthday, so she wanted to throw her a little party while we were up visiting her in Washington. And since we did not celebrate Rob's or my birthdays with her this year, she wanted to celebrate with belated birthday surprises for us. And so that Luke would not feel left out, Luke got an early birthday celebration too. I can honestly say Grandma and Grandpa are fulfilling their spoiling responsibilities to the fullest. We all had a great time and even though Luke is now a bit confused about when his birthday is, I am glad Grandma and Grandpa were able to take part in their birthday celebrations.
Harper Loves her baby doll and sleeps with her every night.
Is it just me or do Rob's legs look like bunny ears on Harper?

Harper of course loved demolishing her princess cupcake. She had a very serious look on her face, like she was concentrating and making sure she was taking as many bites as possible, but once she had her fill, a big smile stretched across her face.
Luke was anxious for his birthday the next day.
Grandma bought him this huge pinata. It had quite a lot of fight in it. We all took our turns trying to crack it open with the improvised BBQ spatula, until Grandma took it into her own hands and showed Nemo who was boss.
And of course, Luke wanted his turn covering himself in frosting.
