To help us get ready for moving across the pond, we have been avid Craiglisters selling anything and everything we can. I never thought that we had that much stuff, but it seems to take forever to get through everything. Luckily, we don't own anything too amazing, and have been able to store real keepsakes (pictures, journals, letters, family heirlooms, antiques) at various family members houses.
There are two sides of selling everything you own. In one way, it is sad to get rid of all the things that we have had in our lives as a married couple. On the other hand, there is a great freedom in getting rid of most of our worldly possessions. It is freeing not to be tied down to anything material. It has helped me to understand how fleeting the happiness of having "stuff" is and where true joy lies. I definitely look forward to the day when we will rebuild our home, but for now I am appreciating having everything I need fit into my arms.
